Sitting at JFK International waiting to board a flight to Trinidad for the Xmas holidays, I’m filled with gratitude for a 2025 that has surpassed every anticipation I had at its outset in Amsterdam twelve months ago.
Four successful operatic productions, an energetic and auspicious inaugural season with my new orchestra in Charlotte, a Met debut and a Grammy nomination later, 2025 has been replete with joyful challenges, colourful characters, professional fulfillment and personal contentment. Now it’s time to take a breather, enjoy some time on the beach and get some regular sleep! My Whoop band has been pointing out poor sleep consistency as it doesn’t understand what it means to work in the theatre. A few Rum Punches as festivities get underway will help with that!
