Champion: Just Before the Bell

Just one week to go before rehearsals at Boston Lyric Opera for Terrence Blanchard‘s Champion start! This will be my second jazz-infused opera in a row, following Kris Defoort’s The Time of Our Singing at Belgian National Opera and, once again, I‘ve had a terrific time during pre-production. I‘m thrilled to be making my U.S. operatic debut in Boston, a city I really enjoyed the first time I was there, visiting a childhood friend who went to MIT.  That‘s a long time ago now, but I remember the beautiful wide streets, the mix of modern and historical architecture and the friendly people.

Can’t wait to meet the BLO cast, crew and administrative team, and get cracking!
